Such Stuff As Dreams Are Made On, by Noah Gorman

from $12.00

“And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,/Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff/As dreams are made on…” (Shakespeare, The Tempest, Act IV, Scene 1, Lines 155-157)

It is believed by many (including Prospero from The Tempest) that when we die, we awake from the dream of life into true reality—or at least into a truer dream. This jazz tune seeks to explore this feeling in it’s musical form. With solo opportunities for the vibraphone, guitar, lead trumpet, lead trombone, and lead alto saxophone, this work will test students’ abilities to improvise on a smooth theme.
